March 23: The Day That Shaped Pakistan’s Destiny

23RD MARCH 2025

By Usman Javed Sattar, Head of IT & Creative, Forest Town Today, March 23 is a national holiday, marked by celebrations that reflect our enduring patriotism. A 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals kickstart the day. The grand military parade in Islamabad showcases Pakistan’s defense capabilities, technological advancements, and cultural richness. The President and Prime Minister address the nation, reaffirming our commitment to progress and unity. National awards and honors are distributed to recognize outstanding contributions to Pakistan. But beyond the festivities, March 23 is a moment of reflection. It reminds us of the sacrifices made by those who fought for our freedom and the responsibility we bear to honor their legacy. Its true essence lies in the historic milestone that set the foundation for the creation of Pakistan: the passage of the Lahore Resolution in 1940. Eighty-five years ago, on this day, a massive gathering filled the grounds of Minto Park (now Iqbal Park) in Lahore. The atmosphere was electric with passion, hope, and an unshakable belief in a better future. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah stood before the crowd, his voice firm, his vision clear. Amidst roaring chants of unity, A.K. Fazlul Huq, premier of Bengal, presented a groundbreaking resolution that later known as the Lahore Resolution. It boldly called for separate, autonomous states for Muslims in British India, where they could live according to their values, culture, and faith. Did you know that the word “Pakistan” was never mentioned in the resolution. Yet, the seed had been planted. It was this great moment that transformed a vision into a movement, ultimately leading to the creation of Pakistan in August of 1947. Decades later, the towering Minar-e-Pakistan stands tall at this historic site today. At Forest Town, we believe that March 23 is not just about looking back; it is about looking forward. Just as the Lahore Resolution laid the foundation for an independent Pakistan, we are laying the foundation for a sustainable, eco-friendly future. As Pakistan marches toward a new era, we are committed to green infrastructure, sustainable solutions, and modern, innovative living. The same values that built this nation are the values that drive us today. This March 23, let’s pledge to not only cherish our past but to actively shape a brighter, greener, and stronger Pakistan. Because the true spirit of Pakistan Day lies in progress, , and our strong belief in our future. Pakistan Zindabad!
